Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018

Goodbye 2017, Hello 2018

It’s been quite a year and I want to thank everyone who has visited and/or commented on my posts.

I came up with a tactic this year by trying to lower the number of drafts by revisiting them and deciding whether I want to go ahead with it or not.

It has always been a problem for me to, in a sense, keep updating this blog. The part where I come up with ideas and then decide whether I made enough sense or simply ranting. Feels, I have aplenty but verbalising them is where I don’t do really well.

This year saw me getting acquainted with a few new things like Spotify, the amazing romance novel community on Tumblr and iflix, an old fave that I revisited thanks to the increased speed (but dangling wires) by my ISP.

Been watching The Mentalist and I LOVE SIMON BAKER AND ROBIN TUNNEY. Totally unrelated to my blog, yes but really enjoy watching it☆

Gaming has been a bit quiet since my last fully-completed game, 7’scarlet and Cinderella Phenomenon (need to replay it to jog my memories for my post). With the new Corda 2ff release on Vita, I’m gonna look forward to getting it sometime later.

Manga-wise, I’ve just finished reading Tendou-ke Monogatari vol.4 and WHAT A RIDE. The fifth volume is scheduled to release in Autumn 2018. Talk about a long time away. Gotta send the author my love 💕

And finally, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!🎄🎇

Lethe by yuni-verse

Lethe by yuni-verse

(This is a dated and archived review. The creator’s website is no longer accessible nor is the game available for download.)

Title: Lethe
Genre: Dark fantasy ADV
Capturable characters: 3+α
Endings: 9
Stills: 32 (doesn’t include variations and the ones that aren’t in CG mode)
Gameplay time: Roughly 3 hours
Form of distribution: Freeware
Game engine: LiveMaker

This is the third work that I have played from this creator and like her previous works I’ve played, this is a dark/serious story.

Before giving you the summary of the story, here’s something from the game to ponder about.

Why can’t I be happy?

Because there are people who want to snatch it away

Why can’t I be happy?

Because there are people who want to destroy it

“I only wanted to be by your side”
-Longing to see you once more-

On your way to school, “you” met with an accident and woke up to a splendidly decorated room that you’ve never seen before.
A butler and a maidservant appeared before you and says,

-You are a magician-

Feeling nothing but confusion, you couldn’t bring yourself to believe it.
In this world, the person that “you” resemble is a magician. It seems like it’s up to you to be aware of your current situation.

As you find your way back to your own world, there is the past and the truth that will never change.

This was a really interesting and refreshing game for me! It unfolded in many ways unlike most games I’ve encountered, it wasn’t long to get into the story and the art is lovely too.
The overall feel for this game was really nice and gorgeous. I was stuck at getting myself to ED3 and stopped but a lovely user posted the walkthrough so I’m saved \^o^/

I’m glad to actually finish the remaining ends because I’m stuck at the happy end with Edwardo, I liked the end but I want to know the entire story /w\
Some of the CGs are not that polished, perhaps because parts of it were from some time before? :3
I’m very happy to see how the creator finished tying up parts of the story, giving it a solid feel, fleshing out the characters, explaining and revealing the characters’ background at the same time. It’s a great game and I look forward to their new work.

7’scarlet review (with spoilers)

7’scarlet review (with spoilers)

7’scarlet is a mystery otome game from Otomate (Idea Factory). Announced at Otomate Party 2015, it released in July 2016 with a Western release for 2018.

It’s about Hanamaki Ichiko (name customisable), a university student whose older brother disappeared without a trace a year ago. She blanks out from time to time, so her friend (since childhood), Kagutsuchi Hino can’t help but watch out for her. This is also because of a promise he made to Ichiko’s older brother.

Knowing that Ichiko is still hung up on the lack of information about her brother’s disappearance, he suggested visiting Okunezato, where Ichiko’s brother was last known to be. It’s a secluded place without many attractions but there’s an online club called the Forbidden Okunezato Club, dedicated to the various myths and mysteries of the town.

Spoilers after the cut. If you haven’t played this, you best stay away.

7scarlet original soundtrack and bonus badge

I grabbed this signed copy from the composer’s online store and comes with a badge, while stocks last.

The original soundtrack contains background music composed by Sugiura Yuuki for the Playstation Vita game, 7’scarlet. The game released in Japan on July 21, 2016 and slated for a Western release sometime 2018.

The theme songs were released separately by TEAM Entertainment. The game has a different version of the theme song featuring a different line of lyrics. Players who’ve played before will know what I’m talking about ;3

The tracks were well-suited with the scenes and definitely felt like it’s an additional element to the game instead of an extra. One spooky track, aptly named Dead Man Walking really helps you get into the mood 😂 I was actually playing another game when this played in the background so it really creeped me out xD

The leaflet inside has the sprites of all the six guys and the protagonist, Ichiko. The badge and store sticker are really cute. If you enjoy the game, the soundtrack will definitely bring you deeper into 7’scarlet’s world.

The original soundtrack is available on CD at the composer’s online store, CDJapan and Amazon Japan as well as other retailers. The theme song collection is available (most probably) worldwide on iTunes.

Princess Closet Kai Ayasaki Birthday Project 2017

Princess Closet Kai Ayasaki Birthday Project 2017

With the release of Kai’s route in the international version of Princess Closet, did you find his story interesting?

You might know that his birthday is on August 16 and Ms Nanami Youko from Japan will be hosting another birthday project for him this year (like she did with Reo!).

Like Reo’s birthday project, users outside Japan are welcome to send in their birthday wishes (more details below)!

The messages will be collected from July 29 to August 5 midnight (JST).

Now, you can either comment below in 25-30 words (please include your name otherwise we will use the name that you used) or tweet your message on Twitter with these hashtags (#プリクロカイ誕 and #priclo_kaibday). Feel free to use any language you are comfortable with!

(Due to the international release using the hashtag, #princesscloset – Ms Nanami has change it to make it easier to find the birthday tweets.)

You can find Ms Nanami’s blog entry about Kai’s birthday project here. You can see the cover of the album as well as other things that other Japanese fans have made!

Non-English fans, please feel free to translate this entry into your language! I only ask to be linked back 🙂
