I stumbled upon Galen Games’ Deliver Us From Evil, the team’s submission for the 2021 Otome Jam on itch.io!
This is a quick and short review 🙂
Mankind has wished since the dawn of time, but when those pleas turn dark, Heaven decides to answer. Tasked by the Archangel Michael to investigate, will our young angel Ariel follow her mission? Or will she stray from the light?
Synopsis for Deliver Us From Evil, from their itch.io page
(throws confetti and has a round of Japanese tea as well as wagashi!)
The new release is completely remade from the inside and out with new stills, graphics (sprites and UI) and best ever, it’s fully-voiced.
Jun Minase (default name, customisable) is suddenly in charge of Shirakaba House, a dormitory full of foreign exchange students after the former manager is unable to resume his duties.
How would all these foreign exchange students manage with each other under one roof? Would there ever be peaceful days for Jun?
The game is suitable for those aged 16 and up (some topics mentioned/referred to in the game will be unsuitable for those under 16) and is absolutely free to play.
Playable on browsers and Windows, the game is made using TyranoScript. There are SIX love interests with plenty of extras, giving it excellent replay value.
It begins with a prologue followed by the choice of a character route. Multiple choices will lead to a good or bad ending. There are also seasonal events where residents of the dormitory would interact with each other.
There is also a tipping function at NovelGame with the use of Amazon Japan giftcards if you are keen to show your appreciation.
I’ve finished the draft for all the events in the common route and working on Felix’s at the moment. The prologue is also translated from scratch.
Turns out I only translated till the hot spring event for Felix so there’s still a lot of ground to cover, apologies for the incorrect assumption.
I’ve made a page to track my progress and Mirin-san made a mini video with Ling’s voice seeing as he only appeared once in the demo’s prologue and he skipped going to see the cherry blossoms with the rest of the group.
The Japanese demo is now updated for its cast change and some fixes. It also includes the flower-viewing event as a bonus! Find the demo here.
Or watch it below. (Sorry about certain clunky places in the video.)
