Princess Closet (プリンセス・クローゼット) by more games

This post was originally written for the Ameba release by more games which was later available on iOS and Tsutaya. It all eventually closed by December 2015.

(I emailed Ciagram and got a reply confirming that the other character routes will be released in the international release of the game – February 21, 2017)

(Shuu Tachibana’s route has been released on both iOS and Android! – April 27, 2017)

(There’s a fan birthday project starting April 12 for Reo’s birthday, read this post for more info!)

(Kai Ayasaki’s route now available on Android with iOS release to be very soon! Info about his fan birthday project here! – July 13, 2017)

Princess Closet was later re-released by Ciagram, a domestic arm of more game’s parent company, Interspace. The game’s simulation/grinding elements were removed and made entirely free to play/read with story tickets that are given for daily logins.

The protagonist (you) is a regular office lady who was looking forward to her trip to the beauty salon and upon your arrival, you find it closed despite your appointment with them. Then someone approached you, Kamiyoshi Reo, the designer for the up-and-coming fashion label, Princess Closet who is looking for a model that people could relate to for the upcoming photo shoot.

When Reo brought you to the atelier, the studio where the Princess Closet team works, he introduces you to the rest of the members.

Tachibana Shuu is the producer of Princess Closet who handles the business side of the fashion label as well as being the head of Ilias (the Japan branch of a famous and international modeling agency).

Ayasaki Kai is the hair and makeup artist who is known for his spectacular work for various stars (iirc www). Kai is really knowledgeable about hair and skin care and would often advise you.

Shinonome Akito is a landscape photographer who got dragged into Princess Closet by Reo. He doesn’t do photo shoots and is reluctant about it but he does his work very well.

Purrfectly Ever After – first impressions

Purrfectly Ever After is an upcoming otome visual novel (romance simulation game) planned for iOS and Android. The story goes like this,

Pastel (name changeable) is a cat who loves good food but has to steal them for a living. So when she got into a string of troubles, she starts feeling sorry about herself until she encounter kind strangers who came to her aid.

She then wished she could become a human so she can earn an honest living and her wish was heard by a fairy godfather she never knew of and so Pastel’s story begins…

It will be available in English, Japanese and Chinese (text language is interchangeable) complete with Japanese voice-acting! There will be five romance-able characters and one more if the project’s first stretch goal is met. All five routes put together will have over 40 hours of gameplay and character routes are released separately.

Each character’s main story will cost USD3.99 while the epilogue package containing stories related to the Romance and Destiny endings cost USD1.99.

On top of that, it will have original music! From the samples, they sound really lovely! The prospect of having a completely voiced game with background music is really exciting(*´▽`*) I haven’t come across a lot of mobile/smartphone (otome) games that comes with their own (original) BGM except for Princess Closet and Drug Prince and Narcotic Girl.

[update: Kickstarter page is here!]

The PV got me really really excited. The story sounds brilliant and the cast, wonderful. The game’s background are amazingly detailed which I would be raving of if the project gets funded.

I love how there’s an option to switch languages (I can put the other two languages into practice lol) because as much as I love Japanese otome apps getting localised, I didn’t like the fact that one update can sometimes change everything into English (I prefer Japanese) so I gave up using them /ω\

Pastel, the protagonist sounds very feisty and positive-minded. And we share the same love for good food~ ♡(*´∀`*)人(*´∀`*)♡
I really like such protagonists, they make me feel the same about life (´ ▽`).。o♡

All in all, the characters and story looks very promising that I can’t wait to get to know them! (*^ω^*)

Purrfectly Ever After sounds like a gem in the making so let’s give it a chance when their Kickstarter campaign goes live! You can read more at Weev’s Prefundia page here.

Drug Prince and Narcotic Girl (ドラッグ王子とマトリ姫) – ramblings

The prologue opens with you waking up outdoors, tied to a chair and presented to an audience as a prize. You start to put together what has happened. There’s a boxing ring, which might have been an illegal fighting match and boxers could be injected with cocaine in order to heat things up, making it a win or die fight.

2014 in review – otome games

An idea hit me when I was browsing a Japanese otome blog I’ve been following. I think this year had been where I’ve went all out on my otome and smartphone games.

Some games I’ve played and enjoyed this year, not in any particular order.

  • Harukanaru Toki no naka de 2 (PSP)
    – Part visual novel and part stat-raising game from Koei Tecmo’s Neoromance series, Harukanaru Toki no naka de, Takakura Karin (default name) is summoned to Kyou, an alternate dimension where it resembles the Heian era to save it from destruction. (more info here) She has no clue what the new world is like and (depending on choice, but she is by default) quite positive-minded about doing her best in whatever she can to save Kyou.
  • Princess Closet (iOS and Android)
    – An Ameba game and app about an ordinary office worker being chosen as the face and model of a popular fashion brand called Princess Closet. We follow the outcomes of her choice when she chooses/approaches any one of the male characters for advice. Has good amount of dress-up missions and the story can be enjoyed and completed for free. Will have a post detailing the gameplay soon.
  • Shirahana no Ori ~Hiiro no Kakera 4~ (PSP/English port on iOS and Android as Shall We Date?: Scarlet Fate)
    – The what-if story of the ancestors for the original Hiiro no Kakera series. I love how mature the subject (sins and guilt) and characters are. Some parts of the story (battles and hidden agendas) are slightly repetitive but from the big picture, it’s as good as it can get. Story-wise, very heavy. The fandisk’s Spring and Autumn stories are absolutely perfect. Winter features Tomonori and Aterui’s route. Summer is where all the characters, ALL of them coming together making noise for the festival. Summer and Winter wasn’t much to my liking but glad that Tomonori has a route because he, along with Akifusa are part of the backbone supporting Shiki as the Tamayori-hime and he deserves a happy end for once.
  • Gunjou no Yuki (PC; trial version and fully-voiced, currently in development)
    – Stellatica’s game features Takigawa Nanase, a high school student who was cleaning the -warehouse of sorts but for home- as a favour for her mother, gets sucked into a diary which had been written in the Taishou era. Without properly realising what her situation was, she gets into trouble when Nanase runs into some bad people and a kind boy with Western features saved her.
She is welcomed to his family’s home and started working in return for letting her stay. Nanase has only a wretched future awaiting her but…
“Would you be saved if the past is changed? Or would it be…”

The trial version is available for download. A physical release had been decided on top of a free download (but there are route restrictions) The physical release would contain the entire story as well extras.
  • Glass Heart Princess (PSP)
    – Himeno Kyouko is a high-school student who finds that she has a rare illness called the Glass Heart Syndrome, where a slight excitement (anything that makes her heart beats faster) would cause her death. Her maid, Satsuki suggests that she falls in love in order to train her heart (along with sports, reading manga and etc) while her multi-talented butler, Shinnosuke aids in her adventures (he is also one of the playable characters ww). A very nice and light-hearted fun.
  • Hanayaka nari, Waga Ichizoku (PSP)
    – A PSP game from ichicolumn. The graphics are nice and the system’s refreshing for me who play text-based otome games most of the time |D The fact that there is something happening behind the scenes within the family and extended relations makes me intrigued.
  • Enkeltbillet (PSP)
    – The quests part are fu~~~n! I like the graphics and system. The Engrish in the game gives me a bad headache but the skip button comes into good use.
  • BAD condition DATE (PC/Android)
    – A voiced situation game. It’s about a couple who has a picnic date but it rains heavily and you both start to chat to pass the time. The protagonist (which is you) has no lines. There are quizzes on the first time playing the game but after that, you can play it on a ‘seamless’ mode like an audio drama. It’s playable on PC and Android.
An adult-rated continuation is in the works.
  • Sh[in]e
    – A short and voiced otome game with very nice music and graphics. You wake up not knowing who and where you are. The story’s male protagonist, Sol who found you, is a toy-maker. After being found out that you both are sharing a room (and bed) by his mother, he proclaims that you are his fiancée in order to keep you and also to restore your memories. (Spoiler: Those who like fairy tales would enjoy this.)
  • Aru Kanri’nin no Koi – Ling(‘s) extra episode
    – This was released in conjunction of Ling-kun’s birthday and some additional stories not in the main games are here. Ling-kun’s so lovable and such a dear. I almost had my heart collapsing on me when the story progressed but thankfully, Ling-kun and Jun-chan can be together for always.

That’s a lot! XD Most of the commercial otome game releases in the later half of the year are on Vita which I sadly, don’t have. I’m looking forward to Haruka 6, UtaPri’s All Star After Secret, to name a few. I’m glad there are still PSP releases because I’ve only just bought the console last year! www

Even though it’s a little early, Happy New Year!

Intruder Game (潜入ゲーム)

Sennyuu Game, otherwise known for its English title, Intruder Game.  (iTunes)

The concept goes like this,

What if you could control your actions in a dream…?
One man fulfilled this wish that all of us have had.
He stole away to the countryside and founded a small company to hide this technology.
If you submit a request for the company to restore a lost memory, you will be sent a music player, headphones and a written advisory.

Play the music for 90 minutes in a safe place where no one will interrupt you.

Do as instructed and the music will make you irresistibly drowsy.
When you awaken the memory you requested will be fresh in your mind again.

Puzzle-solving escape game: Maji Yami Kanojo ~Real Horror Game~ (謎解き・脱出ゲーム:マヂヤミ彼女 〜リアルホラー系ゲーム〜)

It’s been 30 minutes since the message has been read. What have you been up to? Why didn’t you reply? I’ve waited for you. I understand if you’re busy. You have been all work lately. What is more important, me or your work?

Why haven’t you contact me? Why is it? Are you listening at all? Why haven’t you reply me?

I have a lot of things that I want to know and tell you. Don’t you get it? I don’t care if it’s right or not. Don’t smile to anyone else but me. Just look at me. I’m tired. Wanting to cry and wanting to die.

If you don’t come for me, I’ll be gone. Don’t leave me alone. I want to see you, right here and now. You don’t understand any of my feelings, at all. It’s just me who feels bitterness and pain.

I’m such a fool to say that I’ll die if we part ways when I can’t. I just want to think that whatever blood I shed, I can do it for your sake. You’ve told me that you’ll be with me, right? You’ve said it, remember? That we’ll be together.

I want you to say that ‘You’re the only one’. Together forever, isn’t it? That’s for sure.

Why are you saying such things? Why wouldn’t you believe me?
Even when we die, I want us to be together. If I die, you’ll cry for me, won’t you?

It’s better for you if I’m gone in an instant, right? After we break up, you will be smiling at someone else and I will never forgive that.

Don’t break up with me and just stay by my side. I am living because you are with me.

You don’t love me anymore?
Then what should I believe in now?

I’m sorry, sorry, sorry.

You don’t have to do anything, really.

I just want to die, die, die…

No one understands me. I really want to cry. But in truth, I just wish to smile with all my heart.

Have I smiled well enough, I wonder?

Tokimeki Restaurant☆☆☆ (TokiRes) by Konami Digital Entertainment

‘World peace starts from the dining table’.  – Shibuya Miko

I totally agree with it so please don’t bring fights to the dining table or I’ll kick you out personally xD

Tokimeki Restaurant is a smartphone game by Konami Digital Entertainment for iOS and Android. It combines two aspects, love simulation and running a restaurant. I reckon that it’s on the same setting as the Tokimeki Memorial series and our protagonist meet two idol groups, 3 Majesty and X.I.P. who are creating a stir at Habataki City. Byakkotai – Shishi Ibunki (白虎隊 志士異聞記)

(Update: It’s now available in English (without voices, paid app) as Teen Samurai -I’ll be Back, my Love- published by NTT Solmare. App Store, Google Play

On a separate note, the Japanese release has been taken down in January 2017 to revamp the system in order for new OS. No date of release has been decided.)

Byakkotai – Shishi Ibunki is an otome game that I got to know recently. The game runs on smartphone devices (Android and iOS) and is fully voiced by a stunning cast consisting of Morikubo Showtarou, Terashima Takuma, Kishio Daisuke, Suzuki Tatsuhisa, Tachibana Shin’nosuke, Taniyama Kishou and Shimono Hiro who voices Yamamoto Towako, the female friend of our protagonist, Kanome Chisato.

A rough rundown of the story’s setting. The Byakkotai is one of the four military units to modernise the military forces in Aizu, being the reserve unit, it had the youngest members among the four units, all named after gods of each compass direction. (wiki) According to the game, the members of the Byakkotai were admitted once they turn ten and they have to abide the following rules:
