The Crossroads by Seraphinite

Another continuation of my itch.io finds! Termed as a supernatural romance visual novel, The Crossroads is a lovely end product of Seraphinite’s NaNoReno 2017!

The Crossroads01

From their itch.io page,

When Tiana finds herself house-sitting a mansion, she thinks her life is taking a turn for the better.
Little does she know the house is not what it seems… and neither are the two occupants who both wish to lay claim to her heart.

Contested ownership barely covers what’s happening at The Crossroads.

Like the game’s title, Tiana is at a crossroads. She lost her job, apartment and basically everything that she has and was at a loss until a letter arrived, asking her to house-sit a mansion.

The Crossroads03

She meets the two people who are maintaining the house in question, Tristan and Lucan. Tristan is the more easy-going of the pair while Lucan is more mature but drops innuendo in a lot of the interactions with Tiana. While I usually prefer one guy over the rest but I can’t help but appreciate how well-crafted the male characters are. ❤

Seraphinite did a great job in developing the story. It really draws you in, and even though the ending felt a wee bit flat, I think that’s just a lack of time on the creator’s part. The game IS completed in a month after all.

Now, you can also customise the protagonist’s looks in terms of skin tone, eye and hair colours and freckles. However, the CG gallery will only have the protagonist’s default skin tone.

The Crossroads02

I really enjoyed this game and look forward to Seraphinite’s games in the future! She also has a game set in the Regency era called The Lady’s Choice.

This is the third work that I have played from this creator and like her previous works I’ve played, this is a dark/serious story.

Before giving you the summary of the story, here’s something from the game to ponder about.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Why can’t I be happy?

Because there are people who want to snatch it away

Why can’t I be happy?

Because there are people who want to destroy it

“I only wanted to be by your side”
-Longing to see you once more-

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Story
On your way to school, “you” met with an accident and woke up to a splendidly decorated room that you’ve never seen before.
A butler and a maidservant appeared before you and says,

-You are a magician-

Feeling nothing but confusion, you couldn’t bring yourself to believe it.
In this world, the person that “you” resemble is a magician. It seems like it’s up to you to be aware of your current situation.

As you find your way back to your own world, there is the past and the truth that will never change.

Thoughts
This was a really interesting and refreshing game for me! It unfolded in many ways unlike most games I’ve encountered, it wasn’t long to get into the story and the art is lovely too.
The overall feel for this game was really nice and gorgeous. I was stuck at getting myself to ED3 and stopped but a lovely user posted the walkthrough so I’m saved \^o^/

I’m glad to actually finish the remaining ends because I’m stuck at the happy end with Edwardo, I liked the end but I want to know the entire story /w\
Some of the CGs are not that polished, perhaps because parts of it were from some time before? :3
I’m very happy to see how the creator finished tying up parts of the story, giving it a solid feel, fleshing out the characters, explaining and revealing the characters’ background at the same time. It’s a great game and I look forward to their new work.

Dolly Collection (ドリーコレクション)

Fans of the now-defunct Poupee Girl, rejoice! Dolly Collection is a dress-up game by two former members of Poupee Girl development team, the lead designer (@maminoir) and the developer, Okawa Hitoshi.

I found this by coincidence when I was looking through my recommended follows on Instagram. It looks gorgeous and has a good variety of styles available for dress-up when you begin.

Despite the lack of social networking aspect (Poupee Girl was a place where you upload photos of your own clothes as well as dressing up your doll), this is a really good start!

Free items are given from time to time and there are even more lovely dress-up pieces at the shop.

Additional dolls and dress-up items are also available for purchase at 360yen and at various prices respectively (per doll/item).

The app is only available on iOS at the moment and requires iOS 10 as well as iPhone 5 and newer models for it to work. An internet connection is also required while you play.

Dolly Collection on AppStore

Check out the hashtags, #dollycollection on Twitter or Instagram for dress-up screenshots by users! Besides the first image showing all the six different dolls in a variety of fashion styles, everything else is of my own doll xD

Liar! Uncover the Truth by Voltage

Liar! Uncover the Truth is the English release of Doubt! ~Usotsuki no Otoko wa Dare?~. It features the main character who is a successful wedding planner, good at what she does and has an amazing boyfriend until she finds clues that point to her boyfriend’s cheating ways?!

After breaking up with her cheating boyfriend, she goes to a matchmaking party and 10 seemingly gorgeous guys lands on her feet. A fortune-teller tells her only one guy is the real thing while the rest are liars!

This begins your journey to find who’s lying and finally catch your Mr. Right ♡

This was my first Voltage game, I like how smooth and clean it looks. The character designs and backgrounds are polished, easy on the eyes and animated with amusing expressions. There are Japanese and English releases.

There is also a spin-off subtitled, Office wa Danjou no Uso Darake which is now released as Office Deception.

There are 10 guys and so far, I’ve been smoothly going through each story. If you chose the wrong guy in your accusation portion, it’ll count as a mistake too.

Your savvy points are affected by your number of mistakes so carefully go through the stories and notes as well as evidence that you’ve collected!

The system is fascinating and possibly addictive until you have to wait for the energy to be replenished |D One thing though, I didn’t like how otakus were portrayed and hope it’s not like that in the other routes.

The Japanese release includes voices though if you played it without voices previously, you will have to play it again.

7’scarlet review (with spoilers)

7’scarlet is a mystery otome game from Otomate (Idea Factory). Announced at Otomate Party 2015, it released in July 2016 with a Western release for 2018.

It’s about Hanamaki Ichiko (name customisable), a university student whose older brother disappeared without a trace a year ago. She blanks out from time to time, so her friend (since childhood), Kagutsuchi Hino can’t help but watch out for her. This is also because of a promise he made to Ichiko’s older brother.

Knowing that Ichiko is still hung up on the lack of information about her brother’s disappearance, he suggested visiting Okunezato, where Ichiko’s brother was last known to be. It’s a secluded place without many attractions but there’s an online club called the Forbidden Okunezato Club, dedicated to the various myths and mysteries of the town.

Spoilers after the cut. If you haven’t played this, you best stay away.
