7’scarlet review (with spoilers)

7’scarlet is a mystery otome game from Otomate (Idea Factory). Announced at Otomate Party 2015, it released in July 2016 with a Western release for 2018.

It’s about Hanamaki Ichiko (name customisable), a university student whose older brother disappeared without a trace a year ago. She blanks out from time to time, so her friend (since childhood), Kagutsuchi Hino can’t help but watch out for her. This is also because of a promise he made to Ichiko’s older brother.

Knowing that Ichiko is still hung up on the lack of information about her brother’s disappearance, he suggested visiting Okunezato, where Ichiko’s brother was last known to be. It’s a secluded place without many attractions but there’s an online club called the Forbidden Okunezato Club, dedicated to the various myths and mysteries of the town.

Spoilers after the cut. If you haven’t played this, you best stay away.

A3! (Act! Addict! Actors!) by Liber Entertainment

Finally jumped on the A3! wagon a month ago and it’s been really interesting. You’re basically raising actors (instead of idols) and it’s a good change from all the idol phenomenon.

I like how the other members that are behind the scenes look like possible main characters and interesting in their own way. Usually, I’d focus on the main members ’cause the rest simply don’t attract my interest /shot

Yukina, a friend of mine called A3! a ‘houchi game’ – where I can just leave it and come back to it after a while. I don’t have to keep grinding at notes (rhythm games lol) and trying to hit the ‘perfect combo’. It’s really chill and I love it.

The story’s pretty interesting and the protagonist, Izumi-chan trained as a stage actor (and probably as a scriptwriter, director too but I’m not sure about that) who came in search of Mankai Company as someone from that theatre troupe sent her father a letter.

Izumi’s father is missing in action and hasn’t been home in years. She found the theatre while someone was attempting to bulldoze it as there’s an overwhelming amount of debt with barely any good performers and audience. Izumi somehow found herself taking the place of director tasked to get a show running in a month, in exchange for the debt being written off. First, she has to get enough members for each troupe based on the four seasons.

Somehow, Izumi found herself taking the place of director tasked to get a show running in a month, in exchange for the debt being written off. First, she has to get enough members for each troupe based on the four seasons.

There’s the prologue and one arc for each seasonal troupe. Each arc spans over 30 chapters. I wonder what happens after Winter when we’ve got to know all the members of each troupe. Will Mankai Company finally return to its former glory?

I love that the game has a really solid story and the gameplay makes you connect with the characters. Really recommend this game☆

The game already released a CD of their theme song featuring the leaders of each troupe. CDs featuring the Spring and Summer troupes will be released and will see a few solo character songs!

Have you been playing A3! and what made you start playing? (*’▽’) (Oh, I started because Yukina told me they’re giving away 300 diamonds to commemorate a certain occasion LMAO)

Kokorogawari on Steam Greenlight

Kokorogawari (meaning (a) change of heart in Japanese) is Team Precatio’s first game about romance and human drama. It’s currently on Steam Greenlight and needs help being greenlit!

The game features Asami Kobayashi, in present-day Japan who is a 4th-year university student, raised by a single mother. Asami has a cynical view on love and marriage and currently interns at Edo Publishing. Would her views ever change?

Kokorogawari had a very successful Kickstarter and still accepts pre-orders (demo available) at itch.io for regular and deluxe editions!

While it’s full-priced at 25 USD and 35 USD for respective editions, they are still offering pre-order discounts at itch.io!

The game can run on Windows, Mac as well as Linux. There is a 2-chapter demo available on all three platforms. Samples of their soundtrack can be heard on SoundCloud.

Don’t forget to upvote them on Steam Greenlight!

(unboxing) Geten no Hana with Yumeakari Aizouban (下天の華 with 夢灯り 愛蔵版)

Our precious baby is finally home and it’s just so beautiful /gross sobs

Geten no Hana with Yumeakari Aizouban is the Vita port of the Geten no Hana games (PSP) in one. The Platinum box retailed for 30,000yen (w/o taxes) and has a bonus for those who pre-ordered by June 26, 2016. It released on September 8, 2016.

The series is about a kunoichi (Japanese term for a female ninja), Hotaru who is summoned to Azuchi Castle to meet someone in secret, with only directions to the meeting place and a password. She arrives at the meeting place only to find someone there and quickly arms herself. Turns out she was summoned by Akechi Mitsuhide, the right-hand man of Oda Nobunaga who is interested in the possibilities of a kunoichi with transformation abilities.

Hotaru then transformed into a young woman of noble birth, who is supposedly Mitsuhide’s younger sister and given the name Kikyou. Her work as a kunoichi now begins.

There are missions you have to complete with ample amount of time to explore Azuchi Castle and chat with the characters. Hotaru also has training (mini-game, to get flowers so you can gift them to romanceable characters) and needs to observe certain living things (frogs, for example) and objects (a Buddhist statue, the jizou) to be able to transform into them. She uses this skill in various situations and sometimes hilarity ensues.

This title was also announced in commemoration of Nobunaga no Yabou (Nobunaga’s Ambition)’s 30th anniversary. It’s also comparatively simple and short for those unfamiliar to the Neoromance franchise to play. I very much recommend it 😀

The Vita port has additional endings (Tsumi no Hana, darker ends where the ‘suspicion’ level is highest) with new content as well as compiling events from the PSP DLC release which are now voiced.

It also has two books, a memorial book featuring rough sketches and designs of the characters and a book with artwork, comics by Kuku Hayate, the character designer of the series. There are 9 character CDs and 1 CD with narrations, messages from the characters and a drama from the series’ 2014 event, Hanami no Utage (The Flower Viewing Banquet). The rest of the items are merchandise such as a waterproof smartphone case, connectable charms and nine illustrated clear cards. The pre-order bonus has been a connectable charm of Hotaru in her kunoichi form. Super cute >W<

Surprisingly, the character CDs are placed together in one, like a book. How awesome is that.
